Project Overview
We present HelpED with an aim to create a safer commute environment for international students in the University of Edinburgh. We developed our design concept under the broad topic of the SDG11 sustainable city and communities. And choose to focus on improving safety issues. This project is local to the University of Edinburgh, targeting newcomer international students as our users. Our users share the similarity that they are less familiar with the city, and they need a safer experience to live and explore in the new environment. The problem is, they might be unaware of how to get help, they don’t have local friends and family members, and they feel unsafe when traveling alone. Throughout our process, we did interviews and a co-design workshop for our user research. Ideation, prototyping, and user testing for our design and refine part. From our two cycles of user data gathering, we made a persona and decided upon a specific scenario for our design. Then we brainstormed ideas and iterated for our final physical and digital prototypes.
